The One Where I got like 6 Blisters

Companion's Log
Stardate: Oct 15-21, 2019

Two emails in one day because we're catching up folks!

We went back to Scott's to help him rake leaves again and pack up some boxes because he's moving soon. He really loves his grand-kids and showed us some cute pictures! And he told us a story about how he was saved by some angels as a kid. We left him a Book of Mormon so we'll see how it goes. It feels like he's so close!

And yeah, I got like 6 blisters like right where I have to walk on them and it's not that fun. But it really showed me some tender mercies. We were walking past a member's house and she noticed my swagger *cough* *cough* limping *cough*, and asked me about it. She felt super bad and did some research and brought me a ton of moleskin and bandage stuff. So that was so nice and really helpful! It was suddenly 70 degrees that day but this really awesome lady we contacted gave me some water, so that was also super nice and helpful! And then we got really "lucky" with timing because the traveling sisters were going to Twin Falls with the AP's for the weekend so we got to use their car for a few days. It was just enough time for my feet to heal up. So even though getting a ton of blisters and using so many band-aids I look like I have leprosy kinda sucks, it really let me see some blessing. I prayed for help and wanted the problem to just go away but Heavenly Father answered my prayers in another way through these wonderful kind people. I'm so grateful!

It also worked out pretty great to have a car when it started hailing in the middle of a lightning storm. Yeah it was dope. We returned the car after that though so we're back to walking as the weather gets colder. It went from 70 one day to 30 the next, but we're having fun crunching leaves and breathing in the fall air. We left pretty early in the morning to do some service for this less active woman Jeanie, and I got to wear jeans for the first time in like a month, wow wow wow. We helped her unload and set up for this craft fair. Then we came back way later and helped her pack up. It was a lot of fun! We always ask everyone if there's anything we can do for them and they always say no so it was really cool to finally get to do something!

Sister Randall's phone was dying so she gave me the sim card and her keyboard is all broken so I kept the sim card and now I have responsibly and have to write a ton of texts and stuff

Last Sunday, a member asked to set an appointment with us. He's in a wheelchair so we thought he was maybe just lonely and wanted to visit with someone, but it turns out he's actually struggling with his testimony and wanted to talk about it with us. It seems like he's struggling with recognizing the spirit in the same way Sister Randall and I both do. It's almost bad how similar we are, because then neither of us have the magical answers so how do we help him? But it does mean that we understand him and understand each other. The next time we met with him we shared the comprehension tools I learned at the mtc and read some of Alma 32 with hem. I really hope it can help him, I'm just really glad that he reached out to us. Always reach out! At least someone will be ready and willing to listen.

For p-day we went window shopping and I lost my tag so I didn't know who I was!! Then my fortune cookie at lunch was empty so I guess I don't have a soul?!

(We found my tag so it's all good now)

P.s. low-key someone got stabbed on campus and it was the cousin of someone we're contacting so that happened.

  1. Thank you for writing each week Emma. Not sure what it is about reading along with your journey, but I really enjoy it. Maybe it's because I never had the opportunity to go on a mission. Even though I hear isolated stories here and there from people who went on their missions, which gives me a good idea what it's like, but reading the continuous emotional detail makes me feel like I'm almost there. Even when we don't comment, know we are reading and cheering you on, through the good times and the tough ones.
