The One Where We Got Stuck in an Elevator

Companion's Log

Okay it was weird coming back to class and stuff on Wednesday. I still felt kind of off and a little depersonalized. It was like everything about being a missionary felt really distant and far away, like I hadn't done it for so long even though it had only really been a day and a half. So it felt odd trying to jump right back into it. Trc was especially strange feeling, I said the closing prayer and it was kind of hard to. But I felt better by the end of the day. The main thing I've learned over the past year is just not to spiral. It's like when you have a cold, and your nose is all stuffy and suddenly you can't remember what it's like to breathe normally and you get so frustrated and think it's going to be like that forever. But then after a week it's all back to normal and it doesn't even cross your mind. The same goes for when those depersonalization feelings show up again. I just have to remember that it's not going to be forever, it will go back to normal someday.

It doesn't hurt that they showed some Lion King clips at the devotional the night before and talked all about remember who you are.

Well I finally got to play four-square with the Elders! Wish I could say that my four-square days in Mr. Barnes' 4th grade class prepared me to destroy them but I know where liars are thrust down to. It was still awesome, wish we'd been doing this since day one.

cookies will have to do - mom & dad
Had a follow up counseling appointment and got a surprise package. Thanks to whoever sent it! We did the "find relatives around you" thing on family search and I was the closest to Brother Skinner and got a high five so take that Elders! Also my brother-in-law subbed for Sister Rojas so that was cool, except that he kind of freaked everyone out with a failed prank so that was weird.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to watch General Conference in the MTC: you can't wear pajamas, can't bring blankets or snacks, and everyone is crammed in the devotional auditorium which by the way, has horribly uncomfortable seats. So it was quite different from my normal conference experience but it was still awesome of course. Women's conference was fun because they're announcing these changes and all the sisters were gasping and the Elders had no idea what was going on. After conference we had a review as a district and we read the quote book together, so I could finally get Elder Glover off my back about it. It was great, Elder Merrell fell out of his chair laughing at one point. Afterwards Elder Weakley bought us all ice cream (and he did more hardcore parkour). After our review for the Sunday sessions an Elder who will not be named opened the elevator doors early so we all got stuck inside for a brief amount of time but then the elevators were totally shut down for next 2 days, so yeah.

Monday was our last day of classes, so there was much solemn singing of "God be with you till we meet again." Brother Skinner had to leave early for a meeting and the Elders had a hard time letting him go. Final four-square game was bittersweet, though the Elders kept telling us to rage when we got out. Elder Weakley rent his clothes at one point, meaning he ripped his shirt, then took out his shoe lace and tied it around his chest to try to fix it before he finally went to the med area and got tape. But then when we were walking back he tore off strips of his shirt and gave them to the departing missionaries. It was insane and amazing. Sister Huerta added it to the evolving trophy.

We had a crazy long p-day for my last day at the MTC. I finally got to do the initiatory and endowment for the ancestor I was baptized and confirmed for on the day I got my mission call. And we were in an ASL session so that was super cool (I know you'll be jealous, Sister Huerta, wish you could've been there). We had a final devotional review with what was left of our district, it was pretty sad and empty since more than half of us had already left. Sister Mittens ran up at the last minute (clearly to say goodbye to me specifically) so yeah God is real. Said goodbyes then finally started packing and didn't finish until midnight.

So ends my 3 week stay at the missionary training center, I ship out to Pocatello tomorrow (last week). I already miss my MTC district so much, love those elders and sister!

p.s. Sister Liahona had a baby

Also I really tried but I still ran out of time, I'll try to catch up next week but for now we're still a week behind. But I have been in the field for almost a week and p-day is now on Mondays.

The tribble had a spontaneous baby?
