The One Where Sister Randall Shot Me in the Face

Companion's Log
Stardate: Nov 13-18, 2019

Sister Randall had to take a two hour math placement test (when missionaries have 6 months left they start doing college hour every week to apply for jobs and sign up for classes and stuff like that). She took it at the Woodward's and I got to hang out with the kids, so playing go fish and drawing cards for magic tricks with the youngest while the other 3 all talked to me at once. I got to put my amazing slinky-detangling skills to good use and they taught me some taekwondo stick defense! The Woodward's are the best! Our service project that night had to reschedule on us so we got to go to the temple which turned out to be a little tender mercy because Sister Peña had to go on an emergency exchange and ended up in a trio with us. We went to the visitor's center with the Elders and the person they're teaching, and Tabitha and her husband Luis (that's a big deal!) it was pretty awesome, the Sisters at the visitor's center have amazing testimonies!

We had three appointments on Thursday night and we were pretty excited but they all cancelled one by one. But I led the dinner message for the first time really. Talking about how we should "doubt our doubts, before we doubt our faiths." How the Anti-Nephi-Lehi's didn't even listen to Korihor (an anti-christ), they just tied him up and took him to the high priest. Adjusting to Missionary Life (this nice booklet we read from every companion study) says "Among missionaries, a common reaction to excessive stress is to question the strength of their testimony or the truthfulness of the gospel. This struggle often stems from a lack of resources to deal with excessive stress rather than a lack of testimony." This isn't something I'd really thought of before but it's definitely true, and I'd say true for everyone, not just missionaries. I think Adjusting to Missionary Life (or "a missionary's best friend" as my mission prep professor called it) is helpful to anyone making any sort of life adjustment or facing some stress. If you're having a rough time I'd encourage you take take a look though it.

We did some service at the food bank as a district. It was really cool. I'm realizing how simple and easy it is to serve others. Stuff like the Rake a Difference and just an hour or two at a food bank, these are things I can totally do when I get home, and I'm not sure what kept me from doing things like this before my mission.

Our dinner for Saturday cancelled so.......we got to have dinner with my Aunt Marina and Nate! It was so awesome to see them!

That's about it, we saw some deer but they look like demons in the pic. Hit my 2 month mark, and we had a lil nerf war for p-day
