The One Where No One Really Came to the Christmas Parties

Companion's Log
Stardate: Dec 4-9, 2019

We asked a woman, while tracting, if she'd heard of Light the World. She said "yup, Jesus did that, he already lit the world." Oh so I guess our job is done? I really like how some of the Light the World prompts are about helping others, helping people around the world and also people close to you like your family. But some prompts are more personal, about helping yourself find the Light of Christ first before you try to spread that light to others.

So I've really noticed how my brain is totally in missionary mode now. Suddenly everything has a missionary purpose: light the world and Christmas parties, in fact all youth and adult activities are solely things we can invite people to. What else would they be for? But not everyone shares that missionary brain, it's not a priority to them, or they actually never think about it. But at dinner I met a very missionary-minded 9 year old and she gave me like 3 referrals! None of them had a clear address so we're still working on that but she's the best! Wish more people were like her. We also took a young woman out with us a few times this week. It was super cool, she did great!

Happy St Nikolaus Day everyone! I'd told Sister Randall about my family's tradition of celebrating the German holiday and getting a new ornament each year, so we did it together! And my parents sent us advent calendars (also a part of the tradition) and a lil baby Christmas tree!

So remember how we delivered like 40 plates of treats with invitations to our ward Christmas parties? Yeah so exactly 2 of those people actually came. But that's okay, I guess, that's how agency works. But it does make it feel like our efforts are a little futile. But it was actually super awesome because it was Katelynn who came and she's making friends and .....dramatic pause......she came to church for the first time on Sunday, too! So that's awesome!

Then for p-day our zone attacked each other with pool noodles and crackers.

P.s. our bishop drove up right when we were taking the picture with the dead squirrel so awkwardo
