The One Where We Met a Witch I Guess?
Companion's Log
Stardate: Dec 10-16, 2019
So we (almost) put someone on date this week! Her name is Kayleigh, we've been trying to meet with her for about a month and a half now. We went over the baptismal interview questions and she's way ready but just needs to find out when her family can come. We didn't teach her at all but it's still pretty cool. She's been married to an rm for like 2 years and has had the lessons before. Sometimes it just takes time, she wanted to make the decision for herself which is super awesome!
The Light the World prompt on Thursday was to interpret how you feel about Jesus Christ through some creative outlet, so I got a chance to create this painting for Isaiah 49:15-16. I love that verse and have been meaning to draw something for it for literally years (you'll like this one Hermana Potter)! Since being on my mission and being completely separated from social media, all influences, and any other artist to compare myself to, for the first time kinda ever, I actually really like my art. I finally see that I do have an art style and I really like it. I still know I have a lot to learn and a long way to go but I just feel hopeful and excited instead of beating myself up and stuff. I've really come to see why Heavenly Father has commanded us to not covet. Comparing ourselves and our talents and gifts to others will only damage ourselves.
Sister Randall and I gave a training at district council about studying, that was actually really cool. Also Elder Wieder actually heard me singing the opening hymn (over his own bellowing voice) so he'll finally get off my back about supposedly not singing, lol. And this lady we tried to contact was like "Sorry, I actually practice witchcraft" so that happened. She was pretty nice though.
We did a lot of service with Jeanne this week and helped her set up and tear down for her craft show. Sister Randall lost her tag, but Jeanne found it in her car later that night and told us about how she definitely thinks the Holy Ghost prompted her to find it. It was really cool to see that she didn't deny that or brush it off! President called us and said he was delivering some Christmas trees to people in our area so we got to go with him and his family. We'd actually met both the people before and had an appointment set with one of them for later that day. And President bought us a snow shovel so we got to shovel a few driveways before they totally iced over. You know that whole missionary brain thing I talked about last week? Yeah God clearly created leaves and snow and seasons solely so we could serve people. Uh huh, yup.
Quite a week, wow. Doing good. "No Superman does good, you're doing well," you might say. Well actually missionaries do good too, so for this time in my life it's grammatically accurate, okay?
I'm also doing well, though.
I actually feel super good, it's kind of crazy and I don't know how well I can describe everything but I'm truly feeling the power of Christ's Atonement for kind of the first time in my life really. I just feel happiness and peace and confident that through Him I can become the better person I want to be.
A few weeks ago I related a lot to Doctrine and Covenants 121:1 "O God, where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place?" I felt alone and waiting to feel comfort in my trials, something I've never really experienced before and I've been searching for for a long time. But with prayer, priesthood blessings, and holding on to faith through a lot of patience now I kinda actually relate to 2 Corinthians 12:9 "Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities" which is not a verse I ever thought I'd relate to! I always thought Paul was kind of crazy. But here I am. It almost feels strange to finally receive the healing I've been seeking, this is definitely new for me but I know I have grown so much in the past 6 months and even though there's still so much I don't yet understand, I'm grateful.

P.s. We've decided Sister Randall's spirit animal is a dragon who hoards snacks and treats, and our awesome Elders who keep making us cookies and my awesome parents and uncle sending packages are not helping lol thanks though :)
