The One Where We Got a Car

Companion's log
Stardate: Jan 14-20, 2020

So Sister Lewis is great, it's a good time! We're working both of our areas, in two different zones, with split custody between our districts (though we've decided that her district is the deadbeat dad district and mine is the lit homie district, obviously). So yeah it is crazy busy! Everyday is super long and we come home tired, but that's good when you're a missionary. And we got a car so that's cool, except it took me a while to get used to driving again and we totally got stuck in a pothole in our dinner's driveway on our first day with it!

We had another little miracle contact with Jessica, we haven't been able to catch her for so long but we "happened" to show up basically right when she needed us and we were able to call her a ride and help her out. We also had a cool lesson with Kaleigh to help her prepare for her baptism next week. She's worried about how she has to catch up on a lot of knowledge that her husband and his family all grew up with. We showed her the Laborers in the Vineyard video and gave her a children's Book of Mormon and she really liked it. I'm glad we were able to help her a bit.

Okay so interviews with President. It was all fine until afterwards Sister Lewis told me that President told her we're both training next transfer. Yeah I am not at all ready for that in any way shape or form so that freaked me out a ton! It really bothered me because President didn't ask me about it or even think to mention it to me in my interview so yeah that stressed me out a lot and I had a hard time falling asleep that night. We had zone conference the next day and I was exhausted and dead basically. But that night we had an awesome lesson: we've been meeting with Bart, an inactive member, and last time his friend Barb was there too. This week she actually requested the lesson and topic and it was just super awesome. It felt like a natural discussion about forgiveness and repentance and it was just amazing and really boosted me up. It's all worth it for awesome missionary moments like that.

We did district Come Follow Me again and man I just really love Come Follow Me! I love scripture study, especially as a group discussion like that were you can expound the scriptures and learn from each other it's so cool! For years I've kind of known that I didn't really get much out of church personally, it was more like I was going out of obedient obligation because I know that's what you're supposed to do and I sometimes kind of dreaded getting through the 3 hours. When I came on my mission I became more aware of this because now I have to convince other people to come to church when I don't really have that desire myself? I've been working on focusing on the sacrament and it's definitely helped. I also realized, well if I never liked church before than I should be happy that they're changing things! And it's true. I love Sunday school, I love that we study Come Follow Me by ourselves and with our families and then we come on Sundays and share what we've learned. It's great, I love it. And that's good because I'm covering 6 wards now.

-Sister Dunn out

P.s. sorry for the long one. Also our apartment got pranked and the members we live with were not happy about it but now the lit homie district is rallying behind us so it's kinda the best.
Also forgot about it last week but after a day of packing and waiting to hear from president about the transfer situation these are the fortune cookies Randall and I got.

(A cheerful letter or message is on it way to you.)
(Pack your bags. You are bound for an exciting destination to the far east.)
