The One Where We Got Caught in a Dust Storm
Companion's Log
Stardate: April 27-May 3, 2020
So remember that little girl who always knocks on our door to ask for candy? Well we've been out of candy for a while but she still comes so this time we taught some principles! More of the same, studying and video and phone call lessons. Oh boy, so idk how many if any of you know what I'm talking about but my weird (possibly anxiety?) breathing problem is cropping back up, haven't had to think about it for over a year or so, I was also pretty nauseous at the beginning of the week for some reason. But I had a little tender mercy, got to see an answer to my prayer in a way that I didn't really think I would ever experience.
Next day was much better! I turned 20 which is just wack! We had a mission zoom meeting focused on motivation and mental health, it was really good. We went to Cauldron Linn with the paul sisters but on the way there got caught in a surprise dust storm! It was actually kinda cool haha! We just got a car wash the day before! Unforgettable for sure. And Cauldron Linn was absolutely gorgeous! The sunlight and beautiful water, and I saw a lizard! It was just really great to get out there and appreciate some epic nature. Loved it! Called home and my mom played happy birthday on the recorder for me. Then we played encore over the phone with the og squad so that was also great. Miss those guys. I'm so grateful for the friends I've made!
Okay next day we went to City of Rocks with the district and man that one was pretty nerve wracking for me haha. Felt like we were in a safety zone video waiting to happen. But it was my first time ever really seeing the other missionaries in my new district, we finally got permission from the area presidency. I was hecka exhausted the rest of the day.
So that's about it I guess. It was a good week, but as always there are ups and downs. I realized how much my motivation has pretty much completely died over this transfer, but I think it's starting to awaken again. The zoom on Thursday helped me see a lot of the factors that contributed to it all. Something he said that stuck out to me was about the idea of faith without works is dead. When someone is physically sick or injured we pray and give priesthood blessings, but they still seek medical care and professional temporal help. The same is true with mental health. Jesus Christ bore all of our pains and afflictions, our personal griefs, and through His atonement He can heal our broken heart. But we aren't expected to do it all on faith alone.
May the 4th be with you!
