The One Where We........drumroll..........Went into Someone's Home!!

Image
Companion's Log Stardate: May 25-31, 2020 So to start off our pday last week we had a mission wide zoom call in which they gave us the news. We can now go into homes as long as we wear masks and try to social distance. So wow wow wow. Honestly I was pretty nervous about this, it's still gonna be interesting adjusting back to the normal schedule after all this time. But it was so cool to have meals with members again! And we had a lesson with Carol, completely different in person than she was over the phone, she was so much more engaged! It got hot here it's gross lol, made it hard to sleep for a few nights. Which is good because we got up super early for a sun rise hike with the sisters. It was pretty fun and cool. But now here's what I was looking forward to all week! Got to go on exchange with Sister Lewis and road trip to Pocatello together because Rhiannon got baptized on Saturday! Sister Lewis and I taught her first lessons and put her on date when we were together...

The One Where Sister Ales Smashed Her Finger with a Can in the Name of an Object Lesson

Companion's Log Stardate: May 18-24, 2020 Long week wow. Just, yeah Okay so boredom = a whole study mapping out the Nephites' economic system as described in Alma 11, reorganizing all the tubaware and pots and pans, and finally getting started on the commission for my mission President. We also played unstable unicorns with the spanish elders again, and scum, 'twas fun and I feel quite accomplished with the other things. We had a "drive-in theater" zone conference where we stayed in our cars in a potatoes cellar, bc Idaho. I'm talking mountain of potatoes you guys. Mountain. More importantly! We ended on a cliff hanger last time so......I got my transfer journal back! President also gave us his scriptures during the conference and asked Sister Ales and I to draw something in the margins for a scripture, it was really cool. I like that idea and did one in mine later. Meredith! Okay we had some really awesome lessons with her this week and a great opportunity. S...

The One Where Lost Things are Found

Companion's Log  Stardate: May 11-17, 2020 Today is my 8 month mark, wack.  So once again, a week flies by! Had interviews with President and I  feel like we just did that! We studied (notably I have fallen back into confusion and self doubt, don't trust myself at all, especially in my ability to discern the spirit, but we'll keep pushing), hung out with missionaries (notably, played ticket to ride with Elder Arnold and Stanford, and played spike ball with all the sisters in the zone), and had phone and video call lessons (notably, the awesome one with a recent convert Aleecia) and we got the chance to do some service for Meredith and ended up talking to her through her open window for almost an hour. That's about it this week, but get ready for this wild ride: So since I was so unexpectedly yeeted to burley with sort notice, Elder Mortensen (who just went home at the end of last transfer, week ago) didn't get a chance to sign my transfer journal (like a missionary ...

The One Where We Saw a Chicken Crossing the Road

Companion's Log Stardate: May 4-10, 2020 Aaaaand another week goes by with ups and downs and studies and hanging out with missionaries and video and phone lessons. Yup. Transfers were this week, Ales and I are both staying here. So Tuesday was less than bueno, had some conflict which I do not do well with! Like I know I tend to avoid confrontation and all that but I was literally shaking a bit. Yeah not the best. It got better though, I mean we kinda ignored that which wasn't too good but a few days later we were able to talk and actually work together, it felt good. I did another drawing in my study journal that I was actually pretty happy with, and I was led to some scriptures that helped me too. It's still amazing to me how a single verse can resonate so deep for you and speak directly to your needs. Even verses you read a million times before without noticing. Had an unstable unicorns picnic with the Hermanas. We met Meredith! A referral from our bishop, she is super co...

The One Where We Got Caught in a Dust Storm

Companion's Log  Stardate: April 27-May 3, 2020 So remember that little girl who always knocks on our door to ask for candy? Well we've been out of candy for a while but she still comes so this time we taught some principles! More of the same, studying and video and phone call lessons. Oh boy, so idk how many if any of you know what I'm talking about but my weird (possibly anxiety?) breathing problem is cropping back up, haven't had to think about it for over a year or so, I was also pretty nauseous at the beginning of the week for some reason. But I had a little tender mercy, got to see an answer to my prayer in a way that I didn't really think I would ever experience. Next day was much better! I turned 20 which is just wack! We had a mission zoom meeting focused on motivation and mental health, it was really good. We went to Cauldron Linn with the paul sisters but on the way there got caught in a surprise dust storm! It was actually kinda cool haha! We...
