The One Where I Developed Abandonment Issues I Guess

Image
Companion's Log Stardate: Nov 19-25, 2019 Wow okay long week! Like dang, it feels really weird to think back. A lot has happened I guess. So we were walking home at the end of the day and there was this cat in the grass. Naturally I try to pet the cat, cat walks away, so I follow the cat. Cat keeps going, but she keeps meowing at us and looking back, so she clearly wants us to follow her. So we do. We followed her on this crazy roundabout adventure which I wasn't wearing the right shoes for. Whenever we lost her in the shrubs we just had to wait a bit and she would come back to get us. We ended up in this overgrown area with a little wall behind a parking lot of a restaurant. We think she brought us there to see her kitten! But he's very fast and antisocial so he was running away and hiding from us. So, transfers. My district is all staying, except Elder Kerr, our district leader. He's dying (going home) in like 18 days, but he's going to spend those 18 da...

The One Where Sister Randall Shot Me in the Face

Companion's Log Stardate: Nov 13-18, 2019 Sister Randall had to take a two hour math placement test (when missionaries have 6 months left they start doing college hour every week to apply for jobs and sign up for classes and stuff like that). She took it at the Woodward's and I got to hang out with the kids, so playing go fish and drawing cards for magic tricks with the youngest while the other 3 all talked to me at once. I got to put my amazing slinky-detangling skills to good use and they taught me some taekwondo stick defense! The Woodward's are the best! Our service project that night had to reschedule on us so we got to go to the temple which turned out to be a little tender mercy because Sister Peña had to go on an emergency exchange and ended up in a trio with us. We went to the visitor's center with the Elders and the person they're teaching, and Tabitha and her husband Luis (that's a big deal!) it was pretty awesome, the Sisters at the visitor...

The One Where We Raked a Difference

Companion's Log Stardate: Nov 5-12, 2019 We had another temple trip. This man got there at the same time as us and had exactly 4 females names that needed endowments done. It was pretty neat. And we had exchanges that day, I was with Sister Vehikite and Sister Randall went with Sister Lavoie. Problem is, I'm super still a trainee and usually just follow Sister Randall everywhere so I had to kind of take charge of the area and it didn't work too well. But Sister Vehikite is way cool and it was a lot of fun, even though our appointments all canceled on us. Alex Boye came and spoke at mlc (a big meeting for mission leaders) and everyone was invited to that part, so we got to see that a bit. It was awesome, he is the most energetic speaker I've ever seen, jumping and shouting all over the place! He talked a lot about the power of thought, and told us all to write down our expectations for our mission, to get "extra with it!" and if we bring this list to God,...

The One Where We Came Across a Dead Pigeon

Companion's Log Stardate: Oct 29-Nov 4, 2019 So it done got cold! All the kids in the ward got a snow day, but we were still out walking the streets. Apparently it was a record low ever recorded in Pocatello in October. But we did have a car for half a day! We got to use the truck so we could go to the sketchy part of town after dark, and we finally contacted someone who we've been knocking with no response for weeks! On Wednesday we had a temple trip with Tabitha, a recent convert, and I got to meet Sister Randall's last companion. And guess who forgot her temple recommend like a newb? Me. It was okay though they just had to look me up. It was my first time doing baptisms in a really long time, and the Idaho Falls temple is pretty cool. We borrowed 17 Miracles from a member and watched it (after proselytizing hours, of course) while writing our phone number and stuff on all our pass along cards. It was dang cool! I love that movie! We kept track of all the miracl...
